Mysore/Mysuru: Prof. M.S. Venugopal (79), a former faculty of JSS Law College in Kuvempunagar, passed away here on Thursday night.

A resident of Niveditanagar, he leaves behind his wife K.R. Meenakshi, son Manasa Prasanna and a host of relatives and friends. Last rites were performed at the foot of Chamundi Hill on Friday.

Though he was visually impaired, he had engaged in social activities and had gone to jail during Emergency. He was closely associated with the RSS since his childhood days and had conducted several street plays through his ‘Anka’ theatre team.

He also published ‘Oorugolu’, a monthly magazine dedicated to the differently abled. He was also a poet and has many poetry works to his credit.

A one-minute silence was observed at JSS Law College on Friday as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
