Stating that a proposal has been submitted to the Home Department seeking revival of beat system, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order, Alok Mohan said that in  order to curb criminal and illegal activities, the Department has been upgrading patrolling system under all Police Commissionerate in the State.

Speaking to press persons after holding a review meeting with senior Police officers here on Thursday, Alok Mohan expressed satisfaction over policing in Mysuru city.

Maintaining that the CCTV cameras at the entry points of the city will help Police identify and keep record of all vehicles entering and leaving the city, he said  that Police patrolling will be intensified in the outskirts of city and a drive will be launched against narcotics.

Pointing out that the city now has a total of 45 patrolling vehicles including 25 newly added ones, he said the City Police have formed an anti-rowdy squad to keep a check on rowdy elements.

Continuing, the ADGP said the Police will not hesitate to extern  Goonda elements and book them under the Goonda Act. The Police are also keeping a close watch on communal elements in the city and taking necessary measures to prevent stoking of communal tensions, he added.

When his attention was drawn to flagrant violation of traffic rules in most parts of the city, Alok Mohan said the Department was making use of technology to enforce traffic rules.

He said that High Definition (HD) cameras installed at most of the junctions are capable of capturing the number plates of traffic offenders, who will be booked for violations.

With regard to the Vasumati murder case that took place two years ago, the ADGP said that they are putting their best efforts and will soon crack the case.

IGP (Southern Range) Vipul Kumar, City Police Commissioner A. Subramanyeshwara Rao, SP Ravi D. Channannavar, DCPs H.T. Shekar, N. Rudramuni and B.V. Kittur and other Police officers were present.
