July 16, 2019

Visitors to Brindavan Gardens return disappointed

Srirangapatna:  The dharna by the contract employees at KRS entered Day-2 with around 180 employees staging a protest demanding immediate release of salary this morning.

The employees, who have been staging the protest in front of Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Limited (CNNL), alleged that their salaries were not paid for the past five months which had forced them to launch an indefinite stir. Yesterday, around 3,000 visitors to the Brindavan Gardens at KRS had to return disappointed as there was no one to operate the illumination in the Gardens owing to the protest.

They also accused CNNL AEE Vasudev of ill-treating them and using the amount meant for their salaries to pay electricity bills and for other purposes. When contacted MLA Ravindra Srikantaiah, he said that the matter was brought to the notice of District In-charge Minister and added that the officials concerned were instructed to release the salaries immediately.
