Protests galore in city

Mysuru:  A Ph.D holder Dr. B. Basavaraj staged a solo protest in front of Crawford Hall here yesterday urging University of Mysore (UoM) to continue his services as a Guest Lecturer.

Basavaraj, after a PG degree in Ancient History and Archaeology, got his Doctorate from UoM pursuing research at Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS) in 2016. He was said to have served as a Guest Lecturer during 2018-19 at UoM PG Centre at Tubinakere, Mandya district in Department of History.

Basavaraj claimed that the then Registrar Prof. R. Rajanna had opined that the former’s Ph.D subject was not suitable to teach History and asked for an authentication certificate from UoM Department of History for continuation of the service.

Basavaraj bemoaned that he was running from pillar to post at UoM to get the certificate for the last nine months but to no avail.

In an appeal to the Vice-Chancellor, Basavaraj is said to have sought continuation of service or permit for euthanasia.
