2nd PUC valuation to commence from April 4 at 8 centres in city
With the Pre-University lecturers withdrawing their proposed boycott of evaluation work of 2nd PU answer-scripts, the valuation will commence as per schedule from April 4 at 8 centres in city, according to sources at DDPUE office.
Earlier, the Karnataka State PU Lecturers’ Association had said that its members would boycott evaluation work since their demands had not been met. However, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Tanveer Sait met the members of the Association at Legislators Home in Bengaluru yesterday.
The Minister gave a written promise to conduct another meeting with the members of the Association between April 13 and 20 which probably convinced the lecturers to temporarily withdraw the protest. They seemed to be determined to resume the boycott if their demands were not addressed in the next meeting.
Tanveer Sait said that the State Government would soon decide on making recommendations to the 7th Pay Commission to set right the anomalies in pay structure of lecturers and added that a decision in that context would be taken in the Cabinet meeting. He appealed the lecturers not to boycott the evaluation work which would amount to dereliction of duty.
It may be recalled that the evaluation work was hampered last year too for similar reason.
The 2nd PU exam concludes today and the valuation work in city will be taken up at Maharaja’s PU College (Geography), Mahajana PU College (Kannada), Marimallappa PU College (English), Gopalaswamy PU College (History), St. Philomena’s PU College (Economics), Vijaya Vittala PU College (Business Studies), Maharani’s College (Sociology) and Vidya Vardhaka PU College (Accountancy).
