Public brawl lands three college students in trouble

August 8, 2026

Mysuru: Jayapura Police have registered a case against three youths, including two minors, for allegedly fighting in a public place and disturbing public peace at R.T. Nagar. The accused are residents of Dattagalli and Vidyaranyapuram.

According to the complaint lodged by Police Constable Rajendra, the three, all college students, were involved in a quarrel near Nandini Parlour on R.T. Nagar Main Road at about 5.30 pm on July 17.

Rajendra, along with Constable K.S. Vishwa, was on patrol to gather intelligence in Salundi, Kotehundi, Yadahalli and surrounding areas when they noticed two youths holding each other and quarrelling, while the third was shouting instead of trying to stop the fight. On seeing the Police patrol, all three fled the spot.

Subsequent investigation led to the identification of the trio, following which Jayapura Police registered a case against them. They were later arrested. The complaint stated that the youths had created a public nuisance by quarrelling on R.T. Nagar Main Road, shouting and disturbing public peace.

“We investigated the case and found that the youths, two of them minors, had indulged in a public brawl as though it was a competition. As they were college students, they were made to sign an undertaking that they would not repeat the offence and would mend their ways. We have also filed a chargesheet before the Court. They have been let off with a warning,” Jayapura Police Sub-Inspector told Star of Mysore.
