Puttanna Kanagal’s ancestral house burgled

Bettadapura (Periyapatna): The ancestral house of renowned film director late Puttanna Kanagal located at Kanagal village in Periyapatna taluk was reportedly burgled last night and miscreants have stolen a few important books and rare bronze vessels which were said to be prized possessions of Kanagal.

Puttanna Kanagal Pratishtana President Jayanna has lodged a complaint with Bettadapura Police and Sub-Inspector Chikkaswamy has inspected the house.

Speaking to SOM, Kanagal’s brother Narasimhamurthy said that the house has been renovated at a cost of Rs. 2 lakh with an intention to convert it into a Memorial with assistance from village leaders. He added that the miscreants had broken the front door and also dug a tunnel to gain entry and made away with the articles which were being used by late Kanagal.

He appealed the Deputy Commissioner and the local MLA K. Venkatesh to adopt Kanagal village and develop the same.
