Quixotic public works by MCC

Sir,

The 8th Cross, Vinaya Marga, Siddartha Layout, has three segments. One segment between Neethi Marga and San Marga, the other between San Marga and Vinaya Marga and the third between Vinaya Marga and Moksha Marga behind Jain Temple. The first two segments concretised are taken care of well by MCC.

Unfortunately, the third stretch behind Jain Temple, which is just 250 metres, is neglected. This stretch acts as a funnel for the entire stretch of Vinaya Marga paving the way for storm water to gush and helps the entire Vinaya Marga in both ends from water stagnation.

During rains the segment  will convert itself into a small stream and during heavy rains it will look like a tributary of Cauvery River.

It was 25 years ago that tar was laid and subsequent digging up jobs in the segment by various public works were simply covered with the same earth and not once the road was asphalted. A year ago new sewage pipe was laid by digging and again no proper road was laid.

The segment is now a kacha road with lots of potholes. Added to that, the beginning of this stretch behind Jain Temple is scattered with rubbles meant for laying road. A large tree that fell six months ago damaging the properties of a few houses is left with its huge roots so far not removed by MCC.

There are many roads sparingly used by public but MCC takes care of them by laying tar often. But MCC’s neglect of roads with large inhabitants like the stretch behind Jain Temple seems like Quixotic way of  managing public roads.

Now that the Vinaya Marga near Jain Temple is undergoing major repair works including concretising, I request MCC to concretise this 250 metres segment also considering the huge storm water load this small stretch bears to help the entire Vinaya Marga and provide a long-lasting solution.
