R.K. Govil, former President of Town Panchayat and Ekalavya Institute, passed away following a heart attack yesterday.

He leaves behind his wife, two sons and a host of relatives and friends. Last rites were held yesterday in the town.

A well-known person in the town, Govil was a RSS activist, later indulged in bakery industry, entered politics, became the member of Town Panchayat and later became its President.

He was also a social worker, entered education sector and had established Ekalavya Institute of Technology at Ummathur in Chamarajanagar district.
