Mysuru: The Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has published the provisional list of site allottees for Rabindranath Tagore Nagar or R.T. Nagar. The list has been published on the notice boards of MUDA, providing an opportunity for the site aspirants to check if their names are in the list or not.
The R.T. Nagar Layout was formed along the Ring Road adjoining Kanakadasanagar and University layouts in a vast area of 219 acres. The land acquisition process had been completed in 1993-1994 and accordingly, compensations were paid.
The layout comes under different survey numbers of Kergalli and sites were formed to be distributed to over 1,683 aspirants, according to seniority order. Aspirants have been waiting for sites for more than 10 years.
While the MUDA move has come as a big relief to people who have been waiting to own a site in Mysuru, it has disappointed certain people who have alleged that they cannot find their names in the list despite seniority.
Among the people whose names were not in the list were people who have applied for sites for more than seven times. Most of them are senior citizens and MUDA has given 10 days time to file objection to the allottees’ list. Yesterday was the first day of filing objections and 10 objections were filed. The number is likely to go up in the coming days.
Several aspirants met MUDA Chairman D. Dhruvakumar to convey their displeasure. One of the aspirants told Dhruvakumar that he has been running around since 25 years. A KSRP retired sub-inspector K. Jayaraje Urs said that he has been applying for sites since 1988 and has applied five times.
Likewise, C. Subramanya of T.K. Layout said that he has applied for six times but failed to find his name in the provisional list. “I have been trying for a site since 1991 and MUDA has refunded the Rs. 11,000 that was taken from me. I don’t know when I will get a site,” said Siddappa from Janata Nagar.
Even Indrani of Naidunagar echoed similar sentiments and said that she has been doing the rounds of MUDA for many years and now the authorities have refunded her money deposited for a site.
“I have come to MUDA office many times and my name is finally not there. I have spent my time, energy and money for a site and my efforts have gone down the drain,” said Thimmashetty of Tilaknagar.
“We had received 40,000 applications and we have allotted sites to 1,683 applicants. We have ensured that there is no problem in the list and the names have been finalised as per the seniority list. It is natural for people to be upset if their names are not in the list. However, there are 630 sites at Lalithadripura and we will decide on the site distribution after category-wise decision. I will ensure that at least 3,000 to 5,000 sites are distributed before my term ends,” said Dhruvakumar.
