This Kannada movie is based on wildlife conservation

Mysuru:  Amidst a host of films revolving around love, marriage, Police, goondas, religion and education, here is a movie that is devoted to wildlife conservation and it promises a different experience to the audience and change their outlook towards flora and fauna.

The Kannada movie, ‘Raahee, The Hunter’ has hit the screens today. The story is based on the real life experiences of Lavin, a woman from Karmad in South Kodagu as she has closely seen hunting, poaching, forest encroachment and man-animal conflict.

The movie sends out a strong message that if we do not conserve the forests, the future generation would have to lead a life devoid of greenery which in turn will threaten their existence. Lavin wanted to do a documentary on the topic but it turned out to be a commercial movie following suggestions from her friends and forest officers.

The movie has been shot in picturesque villages adjoining Nagarahole National Park, Biligirirangana Betta, Santhemaralli, Saragur and H.D. Kote.

The plot revolves around efforts of Forest Department to save forests and wildlife, timber mafia, rampant poaching and forest encroachment. Shivagirish has played the hero and Vandana as heroine.

M.J. Chethan Kumar has produced the movie and the story has been written by Mahan Aski who has also directed the movie.

Lavin has played the role of a Forest Officer and the other characters are played by Chandrahas Saragur, Sujatha and Ashwini.
