Radiating Energy

December 4, 2017

The science of Feng Shui and Vaastu takes into account the energies radiating from the four compass directions — North, East, South and West and it explains in a simple and effective way the selection of site, construction and design of a residence, condominiums, business premises and placement of rooms, décor in the building.

The quality of soil and its implications on the energy and the structural strength of the building is very important aspect of Vaastu and Feng Shui analysis. Testing the soil prior to commencement of construction provides information on the soil strata, seasonal variations, water table, composition of the soil, rocky base and other vital information.

Ensuring that the construction site is free of landslides due to unstable or mining is crucial as the stability of the structure depends upon the strength of the soil which is referred to as “bearing capacity.” Both in Vaastu and Feng Shui, a cracked, sunk or displaced building is considered bad and unsafe too. The Level of the property decides the type of energy flow into it. If the property is sunken, the energy is depleted and if it is on or above the normal ground level, it is enhanced, hence choosing the right level and setback ensures good flow of energy.

Directions have great significance when it comes to Feng Shui design and layout. This, in turn helps in deciding the layout, room positioning and décor including placement of fixtures, furnishings, furniture and adapting the right colours pertain to the specific sectors. The Feng Shui compass itself is a unique, accurate and a valuable tool which reveals important aspects of the analysis of a specific place. The compass directions are classified further on the basis of the Chinese zodiac sign and the twelve animals are distributed around the dial such that each of them occupies a specific sector, element and aspiration.

While designing building, one of the most important principle in Feng Shui is to have at least one solid wall in a room as this is said to signify the abode where the positive spirit of the room stays and accumulates and is the foundation to the type of energy existing. Interaction of the one solid wall which can be a feature wall with the rest of the home is vital in enhancing the mood of the home.

Main door is the threshold between internal (Yin energy) and external (Yang energy), hence it acts as the ‘Mouth’ where the Chi (energy) enters the property. A good main door ensures that the entire building receives a healthy amount of energy flow and prosperity.

  • Plan a home that’s square or rectangular. Odd-shaped or angular buildings have Feng Shui challenges that are difficult to undo.
  • Make the building generally symmetrical in shape, and avoid angular protrusions.

Troubleshooting the afflictions in the property for external disturbances like electric pylon, trees, designing of garden, placement of plants, water features, ill-effect of neighbourhood buildings can ensure that the property is charged with good energy flow, vibrant and in harmony with the occupants.
