Railway Mazdoor Union General Secretary accuses Govt. of failing working class

Mysuru: – Accusing the Union Government of failing the working class, South-Western Railway Mazdoor Union (Hubballi) General Secretary Dr.A.M. D’Cruz has alleged that the Government’s labour policies have been against the interests of the working class.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the 3-day Mazdoor Union’s 14th Annual General Council at MMC&RI Platinum Jubilee Hall at J.K. Grounds here yesterday.

All India Railwaymen Federation (AIRF) General Secretary Shivagopal Mishra who spoke, lashed out at the BJP led NDA Government at the Centre for failing the concede the demands of Railway employees, which included scrapping of NPS and restoration of guaranteed pension and family pension for all Railway employees, minimum wages, an end to privatisation and corporatisation of Indian Railways, revision of rates of running allowance and other allowances, restoring the scope of LARSGESS to all staff, restricting of track maintainers posts, better Railway Colonies and quarters and quality treatment in all Railway Hospitals, among others.

Pointing out that there were many examples in the past where Railways employees had succeeded in getting their demands fulfilled, Mishra called for a united fight of all Railway Unions to ensure fulfilment of demands.

Earlier, a procession was taken out from the Union office to J.K. Grounds, passing through DRM’s office, Seshadri Iyer Road, Irwin Road, Jagjivan Ram Circle, JLB Road, Dasappa Circle and Dhanvantri Road.

The Annual General Council will host a delegate session at Railway Kalyana Mantap, Vontikoppal Railway Colony, today and tomorrow.

Mysuru Railway Workshop Manager Neeraj Jain, South-Western Railway Mazdoor Union Office-bearers P. Shivaprakash, S. Somashekar, R.R. Naik and others were present.
