Railway pensioner loses Rs. 3.96 lakh

Mysore/Mysuru:  A man disguised as Parcel Officer of Railways, has stolen Rs. 3.96 lakh from the bank account  of a retired Railway employee in the city.

The victim, a resident of Kuvempunagar in the city, had reportedly received a call on his mobile phone from an unknown number on Mar. 10. The caller, had introduced himself as Parcel Officer of Railways, to collect his pension related details. Subsequently, he had collected his Bank Account number and ATM card PIN number, to deposit his pension amount.

The victim, who came in the words of the fraudster, called the South Western Railways (SWR), Mysuru division, to enquire about the said Parcel Officer. He got to know, there was no such officer. When he enquired at the bank, he was shocked to know, Rs. 3.96 lakh had been withdrawn in instalments, from his account.

Acting on his complaint, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at Ashokapuram Police Station.
