Railway under-bridges on ORR: A suggestion

August 4, 2018

Sir,

This has reference to the letter “Provide second passage for Ring Road Railway under-bridges” (Star of Mysore dated July 25). Needless to say that with single Railway under-bridge at all four places of crossing the Outer Ring Road (ORR) with 6-lane approach road, the accidents happening is not surprising.

In fact, even when Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) acquired 43 meters for the construction of Ring Road, I had urged that priority should be given to construction of the second bridge to provide smooth and uninterrupted flow of one-way traffic both from the point of view of economy and avoid any future complications.

If I remember correctly, these four bridges cost Rs. 9 crore at that time. It is suggested the government should move in the matter with the Railways immediately.
