Mysuru: The Railways have begun pruning and cutting of weak and dead trees all along the track between Mysuru and Chamarajanagar route.
To avoid weak and dead trees falling on tracks and resulting in derailment of trains which had happened earlier, the Railway officials had conducted a survey recently and identified trees and branches which had to be cut and pruned. While some trees and branches were pruned, some trees were uprooted.
The tree-felling began from Mysuru New Goods Terminal (MNGT) Railway Station in Metagalli and continued from the under-bridge near Kalamandira up to Chamarajapuram Railway Station on Monday where a few eucalyptus trees were felled. The felled trees and pruned branches were handed over to the Forest Department, according to sources at the Engineering Section of the Railway Department.
