Additional Chief Secretary Lakshminarayana to District Administration

Mysuru: Additional Chief Secretary M. Lakshminarayana has directed the District Administration to be fully geared up to tackle on a war footing any disaster that occurs due to heavy rains.

Lakshminarayana, who is also the in-charge Secretary for the Mysuru District Administration, held a meeting with the officials of the District Administration at the Deputy Commissioner’s office yesterday on the direction of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, following rain havoc in the city, since a couple of days.

He asked them to take all precautionary measures and be ready for disaster management that might occur due to heavy rain, storms and floods, which could affect the lives of the people. The MCC and MUDA officials must be ready with the Disaster Management teams at night. The officials should be ready with the necessary equipment to clear the PWD, ZP and MCC roads whenever trees fall so that they will be able to clear the trees and make it easy for free flow of traffic.

As soon as calls are received the sucking machines must be used to clear the clogged drains and be ready with tree cutting machines to clear the roads by creating a network, he told the officials. Nearly Rs.15.20 crore has been spent for disaster management between March 2016 and April 2017. Even in 2017-18 grants from CRF (Calamity Relief Fund) has been earmarked for the purpose, said DC Abhiram G. Shankar bringing the issue to the notice of Additional      Chief Secretary.

Additional Deputy Commissioner T. Yogesh, MCC Commissioner K.H. Jagadeesha, MUDA Commissioner P.S. Kantharaju, Additional SP Ayyappa, DCP Dr. N. Vishnuvardhan, CHESCom Managing Director Kiran and other officials were present.
