Mysuru – Parts of city received good rainfall yesterday, cooling down the soaring temperatures. According to Meteorological Department, temperatures might come down for the next two days as the weather forecast indicates that it will have a partly cloudy sky with a spell of rain or showers.
It began raining at around 6.45 pm and showers lasted for over an hour. Vijayanagar, Gokulam, Saraswathipuram, Kuvempunagar, Ramakrishnanagar and surrounding areas received moderate to heavy rainfall. However, it rained only for 45 minutes as gusty winds blew away the clouds.
A huge tree was uprooted on the Valmiki Road and its branches fell on a car. One more tree was uprooted in Nazarbad on the Lokranjan Mahal Road near Chennamma Chennabasappa Kalyana Mantap. Along with the tree, a few electric poles too came crashing down. Siddhartanagar Traffic Police and the Mysuru City Corporation’s Abhaya teams cleared the tree for the traffic to move on the busy stretch.
According to Organic Farming Research Station in Naganahalli, Mysuru, light rainfall would continue in parts of Mysuru region till Tuesday or Wednesday.
MYSURU-BENGALURU HIGHWAY BLOCKED
Commuters travelling between Bengaluru and Mysuru had a tough time reaching their destinations due to massive traffic jam caused by trees falling due to rainfall yesterday. The storm brought down trees on Mysuru-Bengaluru route near Mandya and Pandavapura, making it difficult for commuters to travel between these two destinations over the weekend. The rain, which was sudden, was accompanied by gusty winds which threw up a dust storm.
