Mysore/Mysuru: Following heavy rainfall in city on Friday, rain water gushed into KR Hospital, damaging medicine stock and also affecting the treatment of patients.
The water entered the Emergency Ward No. 33 in the ground floor through Narasimharaja Ward in the first floor of the building, leaving the patients admitted for treatment in a state of fix. The nurse room was also surrounded by water, damaging the stock of medicines kept there, which has affected the treatment of patients, as told to Star of Mysore by a hospital staff.
A year ago, repair works were taken up at the Medical Emergency Ward restoring the window panes and fresh coat of paint for the walls of the ward. With the water accumulated in the first floor, it flows towards the ward in the ground floor through the stairs.
If this is the situation following the first spell of rain of the year, how can we work till the rainy season was over, asked a worried staff.
It is attributed to the alleged sub-standard repair works of the hospital building, resulting in seepage of water during rainfall. The higher officials are misusing the opportunity to serve the poor for their selfish motives. Even earlier too, the local MLA had taken notice of sub-standard works during his visit to the hospital, but the authorities concerned are yet to wake up from the slumber.
