Mysuru: Ten members of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene would visit drought-hit areas in North Karnataka from June 13 to 19 and study the drought situation there.

Disclosing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here yesterday, KRRS President Badagalapura Nagendra contended that the State Government had failed to attend to the problems of drought-hit farmers in the State.

He regretted that the Opposition (BJP) too is more interested in toppling the Coalition Government than offer constructive suggestions on drought relief.

He further said that 164 taluks in the State are drought-hit and added that State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa was only visiting the drought areas   but to no avail.

Continuing, Nagendra said that the Sangha members would meet the Governor soon and air their grievances. He also urged the Government to come out with facts and figures regarding the farm loan waiver scheme.

He pooh-poohed the Central offer of Rs.6,000 to farmers calling it as of no use and eye wash as farmers are seeking good support price for their produce.

Farmer leaders Hosakote Basavaraj, Madhu Somaiah and others were present during the press meet.
