Rajamate Kempananjammanni Awards conferred on women achievers

April 3, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru District Court Public Prosecutor Manjula has said that every woman is an achiever and her service, both at home and society, makes her an achiever. “The country will be good if women are good and if women are developed,  the entire country will develop,” she added.

The Public Prosecutor was speaking after inaugurating a function organised by Mysuru Kannada Vedike at Pathrakartara Bhavan here recently to confer Rajamate Kempananjammanni Awards to women achievers in various fields.

Pointing out that two Dalit women are running a newspaper ‘Khabar Laharia,’ is an example of what women can achieve, she said that running a newspaper is not an easy job that too for someone who comes from Dalit community. The newspaper is engaged in pro-society issues and reporting news based on truth and facts. A film inspired by the story of this newspaper  has been nominated for Oscar awards, the Public Prosecutor said and added that through this, the newspaper run by women has attracted world’s attention.

Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Deputy Commissioner M.K. Savitha, who spoke on the occasion, said that women have achieved in all fields. “Only she knows the pain and atrocities suffered by her while working at home, office and society. We are all seeing women who are not strong and empowered suffering from depression and committing  suicide. Women need to be mentally strong and maintain a good mental health,” she opined.

Chief guest and Conservator of Forests Dr. Malathi  Priya called upon women to shoulder the responsibility of protecting the deteriorating environment along with their development  and achievements. She advised them to work towards the education of  girl children which has taken a backseat during the last two years because of COVID-19  and to engage themselves to prevent man-animal conflicts.

Women achievers — H.R. Bhavani, Jyothi Reddy, Uma Jadhav, Shashikala, Kamala Nataraju, Pallamma, B.D. Jyothi, P. Shilpa, Shivaleela V. Hiremath and Jhansi Muthappa — were conferred Rajamate Kempananjamanni Awards by M.K. Savitha

Writer Bannur K. Raju, Mysuru District Journalists Association President S.T. Ravikumar, Mysuru Kannada Vedike President S. Balakrishna and others were present on the occasion.
