Bengaluru: In a paradigm shift concerning Rajyotsava Awards, the State Government has evolved a plan as per which members of the public can recommend the names of achievers for this year’s Rajyotsava Award.
Announcing this at Bengaluru on Saturday, Kannada and Culture Minister Sunil Kumar said Government will also consider names of those achievers who have not applied for the Award.
Pointing out that people can recommend names of achievers to Rajyotsava Award Selection Panel, he said 66 personalities will be honoured this year.
Noting that the public can recommend three names along with their profiles in a single application form through Seva Sindhu portal, Sunil Kumar said that a special application format has been prepared for the purpose.
Stating that people can recommend names along with the profile of achievers containing complete details and address, he said that all the application forms received through Seva Sindhu portal will be forwarded to the expert panel.
Maintaining that panel members will thoroughly scrutinise all application forms complete in all respects and select the achievers, he said that this process means that awardees are selected directly by the people.
Barring sports category, achievers in other fields must be aged over 60 years, he said adding that the last date for recommendation of names of achievers is Oct.15.
