Rakshabandhan Jugalbandhi at Ganabharathi on Sunday

August 25, 2018

Mysuru: Samskara Bharathi has organised a Rakshabandhan music programme on Sunday (Aug.26) at 10 am at Veene Seshanna Bhavan, Ganabharathi, Mysuru.

Gen3 artistes, prodigies Mysore Sumanth on the violin and Shadaj Godkhindi on the flute are performing a jugalbandhi, close on the heels of a similar jugalbandhi by their previous Gen superstars just a week ago.

Highly talented Sumanth, son of violin maestro Dr. Mysore M. Manjunath, is the new wonder-kid, who is already off the blocks. Under tutelage of the renowned Mysore Brothers, Vid. M. Nagaraj and Vid. Dr. M. Manjunath, Sumanth carries forward the legacy of his inherited musical heritage. He is known for his Bhava style of presentation and has already won critical acclaim.

Shadaj Godkhindi too has music in his genes, taught and guided by his father Pt. Praveen Godkhindi and grandfather Pt. Venkatesh Godkhindi. He gave his first public concert at the age of three and has been regularly performing with his father and grandfather. He also plays the western drums with equal finesse.

Equally talented youngsters and stars in their own right, Nikshith Puttur on the mridanga and Arjun Kaliprasad on the tabla are lending the percussion support. Natyacharya Prof. Ramamurthy Rao will deliver the Rakshabandhan message while Thinker M.G. Sadanandaiah will be the guest. Art patron Sangeetha Sevanidhi K.V. Murthy will preside.
