Mysuru: Maintaining that ‘Ramarajya’ concept in its true form is the need of the day, veteran theatre artiste Prasanna has asserted that perhaps this was the only way for taking forward our nation on the right path.
He was speaking after inaugurating a commemoration programme in memory of late social activist Prof. K. Ramdas organised under the aegis of Desiranga Samskrutika Samsthe at Maneyangala in Kalamandira premises here this morning.
Observing that at present, two concepts of Hindutva — Aggressive Hindutva and Soft Hindutva — have emerged, Prasanna said that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the face of Aggressive Hindutva, Soft Hindutva seems to have lied scattered among BJP and RSS cadres.
Pointing out that Soft Hindutva emerged under historical circumstances to take on communal elements, he said that there was a need for a close interaction between intellects and those pursuing Soft Hindutva, as such an interaction will help in weeding out misunderstandings between the two sides.
Claiming that Hindu religion and Hindutva is totally different, he said that while Hindutva is a political concept, Hindu religion spreads the message of peace and harmony.
Noting that Socialism, Ambedkarism and other social concepts can be seen in the Gindu epic ‘Ramayana,’ he said that as the epic is a feature, it is best understood when we look at it in our own way. Recalling the contributions and Movements launched by Prof. K. Ramdas on social issues, Prasanna said that the late activist played a vital role in educating our society on various matters that were of great concern for the society.
Wildlife photographers Krupakar-Senani released a book titled ‘Mateeyavadada Neralalli Prajaprabhutva,’ edited by Krishna Janamana, on the occasion.
Writer Prof. Kalegowda Nagavara presided. Writers Vanaja, Krishna Janamana and others were present.
