‘Rangavalli Laugh Fest’ from Apr.26 to 28

Mysuru: April is the month with world famous comedian Charlie Chaplin’s birthday. In his memory, Rangavalli, an amateur theatre troupe in city, in association with the Department of Kannada & Culture, has organised a three-day comedy theatre festival titled ‘Rangavalli Laugh Fest’ from Apr.26 to Apr.28 at Mini Theatre in Kalamandira premises here. Rangavalli’s super hit productions MadyarathriyaTiganegalu, Tatte Idli Raddantha and Samsaradalli Sanidapa will be staged during these days.

Apr.26 (7 pm): Play: MadyarathriyaTiganegalu

Duration: 50 minutes

About the play: Everybody is in a hurry in today’s fast-paced life. If we don’t take a break from this, we might as well end up handicapped. Though the play is laced with comedy on the surface, it holds many subtle questions beneath. It captures the diversities in behaviour while exposing different strata of life. It shows how these complex mindsets, under duress of the circumstances, try to make their mark. It also portrays the life and problems of the urban middle class.

Duration: 90 minutes

About the play: Time flies. Modern times have given rise to nuclear families where family bondings have loosened and question its very existence. Today’s youth need to change the way they look down upon the aged people. Children kill their father using his misery as reason, who denied to share his property citing their negligence towards him. When an anonymous letter, written to the Police, points out suspicion behind his death, an investigation begins. It is to be seen on stage, how the Police crack the case and arrest the culprit.

Duration: 90 Minutes

About the play: The play is set in the contemporary time and deals with the consequences of a burglary which starts out badly and just goes downhill from there on. The burglar breaks into the flat of a well to do man. But whilst he is “at work,” his wife rings him and nags him as only a wife can nag a husband.

Then, to make matters worse, the owner returns unexpectedly, bringing with him his lover. One by one, various people enter the flat without knowing what exactly is happening and who is involved with whom.

Eight characters locked in a flat that they would each prefer not to be in are tangled in a web of marital intrigue that would take quite a few spiders to spin.
