Mysuru: Mandya District Police have emerged Overall Champions at the two-day Range-level Police Duty Meet-2017 of Southern Range held at Karnataka Police Academy (KPA) in city.
The competitions were held in 21 events which were divided in various categories such as fingerprint detection, forensic science, bomb detection, computer awareness, photography and videography among others.
The best performers will take part in the State and National-level Police Meets scheduled to be held in December, 2017 and January, 2018 respectively.
Mandya District Police team won 17 medals and bagged the Overall Championship. Mysuru City Police bagged 11 medals and bagged the runners-up position, while Kodagu Police, with nine medals stood third. Chamarajanagar Police stood fourth with eight medals, while Hassan and Mysuru District Police with seven medals each stood fifth.
The winners of various competitions are seen with District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, IGP (Southern Range) Vipul Kumar, City Police Commissioner Dr. A.S. Rao, SP Ravi D. Channannavar and KPTS Mysuru Principal Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti during the valedictory at KPA premises in Mysuru last evening.
The winners: Chamarajanagar Inspector K. Shanmuga Verma bagged five medals in the Forensic Lab’s written exam, medico legal oral exam, handling, lifting and packing exam, crime scene photography and fingerprint exams to emerge as the topper.
Among other winners are, Criminal Law written exam: M.K. Deepak; Observation exam: Mukranjan; Photography: D.G. Chandregowda; Videography: K.R. Jitendra Kumar; Computer Division Speed Test: S. Vasanthkumar; Written exam: J. Gajendra; Anti-Sabotage Ground and Area Search Exam: Srinivas; Vehicle Search: Devaraju; Room Search: Basavaraju; Access Control: Arunkumar.
Dog Squad Division – Explosive Trade Test: Suresh Babu (Dog name – Lassy); Narcotic Test: M. Balaram (Dog name – Gaja); Trackers Trade Test: C. Prasanna (Dog name – Sweety).
A total of 160 Officers and staff from Mysuru City and District, Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu and 13 dogs participated.
Speaking after distributing prizes during the valedictory function last evening, District Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa said that the Police Department played a key role in keeping the society free from crime and added that the society should also respect the Police for their effort in keeping us safe.
Calling upon the Police personnel to conduct investigations in a scientific way, the Minister said that no crime would remain undetected if the Police personnel work in a scientific manner.
IGP (Southern Range) Vipul Kumar, who also spoke, called upon the toppers who would be participating in the State-level competitions in December to give their best and participate in the National-level competitions to be held in Chennai in January, 2018 and bring laurels to the Police Department.
