September 17, 2018

Mysuru:  A rare collection of articles and pictures of Lord Ganesha, published in various newspapers and magazines on Ganesha Chaturthi over the last 15 years, was inaugurated at Mysore Art Gallery on Ramanuja Road here yesterday. The rare pictures were collected by Kalihundi Shivakumar.

The collection threw light on the meaning of rituals performed on Gowri-Ganesha festivals, Ganapathi programmes abroad and other parts of the country and also on water pollution caused by immersion of painted idols.

Inaugurating the expo, litterateur Dr. C.P. Krishnakumar hailed the exhibition as a rare display of various forms of Ganesha.

Gallery Founder and Sculptor Shivalingappa, Vice-President Jamuna Rani Mirle, Convener of Deepti Samskruthika Vedike Govindacharya, photo collector Kalihundi Shivakumar and others were present. The expo, which is open to the public from 10 am to 5 pm, concludes today.
