Sir,
I am not a regular traveller by the KSRTC bus, of late. However, I travel between Mysuru and Bengaluru often. The drivers, especially of the Karnataka Sarige, are very rash and try to intimidate the smaller vehicles, not to mention the two-wheelers. They try to intimidate the other vehicle owners into giving way to them either by continuous honking or by forcing their way through the gaps and scaring the motorists.
For the last more than one year I travel regularly, almost every fortnight between Mysuru and Mangaluru by car. The bus drivers seem to have forgotten the road manners to give way to the other road users, even when horned to give way, in their anxiety to overtake the vehicle ahead of them. In the process, we have to wait for a long distance to be able to move ahead of the bus.
Another disturbing aspect of their recent driving trend is they try to overtake any and every vehicle even in the dangerous curves, despite there being signals/warnings to motorists not to overtake or the dangers of doing so. I have personally experienced this all along the stretch between Mysuru and Mangaluru. The drivers tend to overtake in curves and put us in great danger in the sharp curves between Suntikoppa and Madikeri and Madikeri to near about Sampaje.
The trend continues in stretches between Sullia – Puttur and Puttur – Mani, where you find some of the sharp curves.
The KSRTC authorities need to look into this, seriously either by imparting training to them or provide them sufficient rest; do not put undue pressure on them to maintain timings etc., which force them to engage themselves in such tactics.

This is happening since we have N number of depots and we have too many busses running in the same route. Taking an example of the above article, we have buses doing Mysore – Mangalore Trips from Nanjangud, Mysore, K R Nagar, Hunsur, Periyapatna, Kushalnagar, Madikeri, Puttur, BC Road and Mangalore. There are more number of buses in the route than required. We have drivers do all these stunts just to earn that extra miler. This issue will get fixed automatically if KSRTC re reviews the routing and reduce the number if buses.
