Mysuru: State Scouts and Guides Commissioner P.G.R. Sindhia, who is also a former Minister, said that though he has stayed away from politics for long, he was ready to share his political knowledge and experiences with today’s younger crop of politicians.
He was speaking at ‘Dhwani Kotta Dhani’ award conferment programme organised jointly by the city’s Anveshana Seva Trust and Ursu Jagruti Academy Charitable Trust, marking his 77th birthday celebration, at the Institution of Engineers India (IEI), Mysuru on JLB Road here yesterday.
Stressing on the need for building good leadership qualities among present day younger politicians, Sindhia said “When I was the Transport Minister decades ago, I brought in some revolutionary reforms in the department, which is being studied by the Centre’s NITI Ayog”.
Expressing disappointment over the present-day electoral process, Sindhia observed that there is an urgent need for bringing about electoral reforms on a large scale. Recalling his student days, the former Minister attributed his education and growth in politics to his mother.
Suttur Mutt seer Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji who graced the occasion, said that Sindhia was a farsighted politician and has left his own footprint in politics.
Former Minister M. Shivanna and MLA Tanveer Sait who too spoke, lauded the contribution of PGR Sindhia for the growth of the State as a Legislator and Minister.
V. Manjunath, currently serving as Hassan Additional Deputy Commissioner, Iythichanda Ramesh Uthappa, Resident Editor, Vijaya Karnataka, Mysuru, Srinivas Bahaddur, Director, Vaidyavartha Prakashana and Jahnavi Seethalakshmi Verma, a Limericks writer of Mangaluru, were conferred with ‘Dhwani Kotta Dhani’ award on the occasion. Also, former Minister P.G.R. Sindhia was felicitated on his 77th birthday.
