Mysuru: Social activist Snehamayi Krishna has written to the Minister and Secretary of the Urban Development Department, urging them to revise the Government order on reclaiming sites allegedly allotted illegally under the erstwhile Mysuru Urban Development Authority’s (MUDA) 50:50 ratio scheme. He has sought a fresh and clear directive with proper guidelines.

The Government order dated Aug. 19, referring to MUDA’s 50:50 allotments, was followed by another order issued by the Urban Development Department Secretary on Aug. 25, directing the cancellation of all allotments made in violation of Rule 16.

Krishna cautioned that beneficiaries of the 50:50 scheme could approach the Courts, which could stall the implementation of the Government order.

He suggested that all illegal 50:50 allotments be cancelled without referring to vague rules and that the sites be taken back into MUDA’s possession. Information boards should also be installed at such locations, he said.

He also suggested that the Rs. 1,000 collected by MUDA from each allottee as documentation charges at the time of allotment be refunded to the respective bank accounts.

In cases where beneficiaries have already constructed houses or construction is underway, MUDA should conduct auctions and allow the original allottees to participate, he said.

The combined value of the site and house should be considered for the auction, with MUDA retaining the site value and the value of the house being paid to the individual.

Krishna further suggested that in cases where sites allotted under the 50:50 scheme were subsequently sold, MUDA should ensure that it does not suffer any loss. Buyers who incur losses should recover the amount from the sellers and not from MUDA, he said.

He said, incorporating these measures into a fresh Government order would enable MUDA to reclaim illegally allotted sites swiftly and help avoid unnecessary litigation.
