Sir,
It’s a common sight these days to see PUC students (11th and 12th Std), who are just 16 years or 17 years old, riding two- wheelers to college and everywhere. It is just not possible to stop them despite all the stringent motor vehicle rules.
Without any guidance and a driving licence, these students risk their lives as well as other people’s lives.
I therefore urge or suggest the Union Transport Ministry to reduce the minimum requirement to ride two-wheelers from the current 18 years to 16 years. It is a fact that this generation is a fast and smart learning crowd, unlike our comparatively slow generation.
With the reduction in age limit, these students will promptly apply for a learner’s licence, take guidance from parents, as well as learn the traffic rules. They will also be riding legally so the haphazard riding to escape cops will be reduced. This will safeguard precious lives.
