Reform MCC first, then talk of Greater Mysuru: MP

January 25, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has alleged that corruption in the Mysuru City Corporation has crossed all limits and urged the State Government to first carry out greater reforms within the civic body before proceeding with the formation of a Greater Mysuru.

In a press statement, Yaduveer accused the MCC of misusing public funds and cited the recent suspension of three women employees as evidence of malpractice.

He said the absence of elected representatives, lack of effective supervision, failure to implement reforms and poor accountability were the main reasons for rampant corruption in the civic body.

Despite this, he added, the Government has continued to delay municipal elections, further aggravating the situation.

Holding the State Government directly responsible for allowing corruption to thrive in local administration, Yaduveer stressed that before expanding Mysuru into a larger municipal entity, the Government must first ensure transparency, accountability and meaningful reforms within the existing Corporation.
