Mysuru: Alanahalli Police have arrested a staff of an alcohol de-addiction and rehabilitation centre in connection with the death of an inmate.

The arrested is Mohan Kumar, staff of ‘Best Future Foundation’ on T. Narasipur Road in Alanahalli. He was arrested following the death of Manoj Rao (28), son of Gajendra Rao, a resident of Gayathripuram in city.

Manoj and his father, Rajendra Rao, who were both undergoing treatment for alcohol addiction, were admitted to the rehab centre on Sept. 13. On the night of Sept. 17, the rehab centre staff informed the family that Manoj had died.

Expressing doubts over Manoj’s death, his brother Shivaji Rao in his complaint to Alanahalli Police has stated that when he and others checked the CCTV footage at the rehab centre, it showed Mohan Kumar and staff torturing his brother and murdering him in front of his father, who is also admitted at the rehab centre.

Based on the complaint from Shivaji Rao, Alanahalli Police have registered a FIR and are investigating.
