Religious awareness key for children to imbibe good qualities

April 12, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: Chande Mela Kala Sangha President Chandrashekar said that religious awareness holds key for children in developing good qualities.

He was speaking at the valedictory of the 10-day free religious education camp for children aged below 12 years organised by Chande Mela Kala Sangha at Udupi Srikrishna Mandira on N.S. Road here recently.

Pointing out that just as we trust the almighty in a temple’s sanctum sanctorum, Chandrashekar said that the trust on the soul in our body is also sacred.

Noting that Hinduism is a great religion, he said that lack of awareness has rendered a setback to our religion.

Regretting that the age old tradition of respecting our elders is steadily on the decline with modernity creeping into our society, he said that it is sad to note that the aged are being admitted increasingly in old age homes. He further said that temples must not restrict themselves just to performance of rituals and pujas, but also extend their horizons by becoming centres for carrying out social activities that are aimed at the welfare and prosperity of the society.

More than 150 children, who took part in the camp, were taught Sandhyavandane, Pujas, Strotras, Vishnu Sahasranama etc. Also girl children were taught bhajans, performance of rituals, coastal chende art etc.

Mysuru District Brahmin Yuva Vedike General Secretary Vikram Iyengar, Dr. Chakrapani, Suchitra, Vigneshwar Bhat, Chetan, Nagashri, Chitra, Ramakrishnarao, Gururaj, Kushal Rao, Kartik Rao, Sudarshan Rao, Prajwal and others were present.
