Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that advertisement hoardings and boards are destroying the beauty of heritage structures of the city, former Mayor and BJP leader Sandesh Swamy has urged the authorities to immediately launch a drive for removal of unauthorised hoardings and thus restore the natural and architectural beauty of the city.

Noting that installation of advertisement boards in the surroundings of heritage structures of the city and other prominent circles and junctions has dented the beauty of the city, Sandesh Swamy said, thousands of domestic and foreign tourists visit the city every day and these unauthorised advertisement boards have become an eyesore to the tourists. The authorities must take serious note of this and take measures for removal of these boards, he urged.

Pointing out that MCC has to bring to the notice of the City Traffic Police before granting any permission for installation of advertisement boards and hoardings, the former Mayor said, most of the boards draw the attention of motorists when they pass by, thus posing a danger to road safety.

Noting that the authorities should take note of the significance of over century old heritage structures, he urged officials to show interest in conservation of our heritage structures which are architectural wonders.
