Residential School teachers to stage demo in Belagavi on Nov. 16, 17

November 13, 2017

Mysuru: Seeking fulfilment of their demands, Residential School Employees Association will stage a demonstration on  Nov. 16 and 17 in front of Suvarna Soudha at Belagavi where the Winter Session of the State Legislature is going on.

Addressing a press meet here yesterday, Association President Mahesh Chandra said that the teaching and non-teaching faculty of Government Residential Schools such as Murarji Desai, Kittur Rani Channamma, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Ekalavya and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar are facing many professional problems. Many representations to the Government seeking redressal of their problems have yielded no result, he said and as such, the teachers and employees are forced to demonstrate.

Pointing out that the Residential Schools are functioning under the Social Welfare Department, he claimed that Residential School teachers were deprived of certain benefits enjoyed by teachers of Schools coming under the Department of Public Instruction (DPI).

Although the issue has been brought to the notice of the Government several times, it has fallen on deaf ears and in this backdrop, two-day demo will be held in front of Belagavi Suvarna Soudha on Nov.16 and 17.

The demands include KGID, GIS and Jyothi Sanjeevini benefits, implementation of Kumar Nayak Report and promotion as per DPI guidelines, among others, he added.

Association District President Veena and others were present during the press meet.
