Residents of Bannimantap facing acute water shortage

May 20, 2025

Sir,

We would like to bring to the notice of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), the local MLA, and the Vani Vilas Water Works (VVWW) authorities that residents of Bannimantap Extension, opposite the KSRTC Depot, have been facing acute water shortage for the past two years.

The water supply in our area has been extremely poor, making daily life miserable. Often, the water supply is so scarce that it is insufficient even for basic needs such as cooking, washing and cleaning.

Sometimes, water is supplied for just half an hour, and on other days, we are forced to wait the entire day for even a trickle from the tap.

It is disheartening that despite being regular tax-payers, the residents of Bannimantap Extension are denied their rightful share of this essential resource.

Although a new pipeline was laid over a year ago, individual connections have still not been provided. There is no main pipeline in our locality, and we are currently dependent on a connection from behind St. Joseph’s Convent — over 450 metres away — which makes it even harder to receive a regular supply.

We sincerely hope the MCC Commissioner will instruct the VVWW authorities to take urgent and necessary action to resolve this long-pending issue.

– Sajjad Ali Shah on behalf of residents,  Bannimantap,  19.5.2025
