Residents of Ekalavyanagar continue their protest for Title Deeds

October 19, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: Residents of Ekalavyanagar led by the Dalit Sangharsha Samithi (DSS) continued their ongoing protest demanding Title Deed for dwellers who have submitted applications under Akrama-Sakrama scheme. The protest entered its 38th day today.

Activists of Karnataka State Farmers Association and progressive organisations lent their support to the residents of Ekalavyanagar by participating in the ongoing protest near Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Monday.

“The nomadic community members are residing at Ekalavyalanagar in the city outskirts for many years with their family members.  Government land was identified to allot them sites in the same area. But some private members are conspiring to grab the land meant for these people and they have the backing of some vested interests,” the protestors alleged and urged that the Government should immediately respond to the demands of the residents.

“The authorities have deprived us of a permanent place and are repeatedly shifting us from one place to another. Now, we are staying in Ekalavyanagar as directed by the officials. The land where we are living now is a Government land and the officials should give Title Deeds to us under the Akrama-Sakrama scheme,” they demanded.

State Farmers Association leaders P. Marankaiah, DSS District Convenor Choranahalli Shivanna and others extended support to the ongoing  protest by the nomadic community.
