‘Respect Indian Constitution, keep your surroundings clean’

District Judge inaugurates National Constitution Day, Swachhata Abhiyan  in Periyapatna

Periyapatna:  Principal District and Sessions Court Judge S.K. Vantigodi said that Constitution of India granted equal rights, opportunities, freedom, social justice to lead dignified life to all citizens of the country.  

Speaking at the National Constitution Day celebrations and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at the Court premises in the town on Monday, he wanted all citizens of the nation to respect the Constitution drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

People should join hands with the government to maintain cleanliness in the premises of the Court besides their surroundings, he said.

He asked the Judges to dispose old cases to ensure speedy justice to needy people. Judges should pledge to clear old cases of more than 10 years by April next year, he added.     

Speaking on the occasion, B N. Yashoda, HOD of Political Science at Maharaja’s College,  Mysuru, said that the Government of India felicitated Dr, Ambedkar with Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award after 30 years of his death.

The Indian Constitution has given special protection for women, labourers, weaker sections of the society, she said and added that people should respect the Constitution for safeguarding their rights.  

Assistant Commissioner Nitish, in his address, wanted the judiciary to focus on delivering justice to old cases. People will lose faith in judiciary if justice is delayed for long years, he added.

Policy makers and administrators of the Nation must give special attention to fill vacant post of Judges besides strengthening the justice delivery system with all infrastructure to expedite the disposal of cases.

On the occasion, Judges and judicial staff swept the premises of the Court and planted saplings, as part of the Swachhata Abhiyan.

Members of Srikshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development  Organisation, Anganwadi Centres, Forest Department, various school and colleges students took part in the event.

Krishna, Rotary Club President Ambalare Basavegowda, Taluk Bar Association President T.N. Mahesh, Advocates B.V. Javaregowda, Govindegowda, C K Manjunathaswamy, Sandeep, Karunakar Jagadeesh, Girish, Chikkanayak and others also  participated in the programme.
