Retired Bank employee commits suicide

Chamarajanagar: A retired Bank employee, said to be depressed in life, committed suicide by jumping into a lake at Bendaravadi in the taluk on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Prasad, a resident of Shankarapura Layout in city.

He was serving as the Vice-President of taluk Seva Dal and was involved in social works. Following the demise of his wife during COVID-19 pandemic, Prasad was leading a lonely life.

Depressed over leading a lonely life, Prasad, ended his life by jumping into the lake on Wednesday night and his body was found floating in the lake yesterday morning, Police said.

Chamarajanagar Rural Police have registered a case.
