Mysuru:  Days after Sri Chamundeshwari Temple Development Authority announced to introduce a special Rs. 2,000 package ticket for devotees visiting Chamundeshwari temple at Chamundi Hill during Ashada Fridays,  Karnataka Sena Pade activists staged a protest in city yesterday.

Sena Pade workers led by their District Unit President Tejesh Lokesh Gowda staged the protest in front of Old Deputy Commissioner’s Office condemning the decision to hike the service charges without any prior notice. The Authority is still unable to supply drinking water to hill residents, with  works to lay pipeline remaining incomplete. Tourists are also deprived of adequate basic amenities. Toilet users are charged Rs. 5 and Rs. 10, which should be stopped and provide free service.

The protesters alleged that, the Government which has failed to mobilise resources to fund its Guarantee Schemes, has increased the seva charges arbitrarily from Rs. 300 to Rs. 550. Every hikes should be revoked, they demanded.
