Periyapatna: A bike rider was killed on the spot when a car collided with his bike head-on near Tobacco Board on Bettadapura Road here on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Kariyappa (30), a resident of Hittnehebbagilu in the taluk.

Kariyappa, along with his friend Chandu were proceeding on the bike (KA-45-X-2064) from Periyapatna towards Hittnehebbagilu village when a car driven by one Yogesh from the opposite direction, collided head-on with the bike resulting in Kariyappa being killed on the spot and Chandu suffering serious injuries on his leg. Chandu has been admitted to a private hospital in Mysuru. Periyapatna Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
