Rider killed as car rams into bike

Periyapatna:  A bike rider was killed on the spot when the bike he was riding collided head-on with a car near Sri Mahadeshwara Temple on Gonikoppal Road here yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Raghu (40), a native of Neralekuppe village in the taluk.

Raghu was proceeding on his bike to Habatoor to a relative’s place when Dinesh, the owner-cum-driver of an unregistered Toyota Fortuner SUV, lost control of the vehicle and rammed head-on into the bike, killing Raghu  on the spot.

Dinesh, who is said to be a contractor and a native of Kushalnagar, has surrendered to the Police.

Periyapatna Circle Inspector H.N. Siddaiah, who has registered a case, is investigating and Raghu has been released on bail.
