Rider killed as goods vehicle rams into bike

Mysuru:  A bike rider, who was proceeding on the Ring Road was knocked down fatally near Vijayanagar here yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as M.J. Nageshwar Murthy (37), a resident of Siddarthanagar, who used to deliver online products to customers.

Yesterday afternoon, Nageshwar was proceeding on the Ring Road to Vijayanagar to deliver a product booked by a customer. When he took a turn towards Vijayanagar from Hinkal side, a speeding Eicher goods vehicle knocked him down from behind resulting in Nageshwar sustaining serious injuries. The driver of the goods vehicle with the help of the public, rushed Nageshwar to a private hospital in Hootagalli, where the doctors provided first aid and advised the goods vehicle driver to shift Nageshwar to JSS Hospital for further treatment. Though he was shifted to JSS Hospital, Nageshwar succumbed to injuries in the evening.

V.V. Puram Traffic Inspector Ravi and staff visited the accident spot, conducted inspection, took the goods vehicle and the driver into custody besides registering a case.

Nageshwar leaves behind his parents, brother, sister and a host of relatives and friends. Last rites were held at the Veerashaiva-Lingayat Burial Grounds at Lalithadripura here this noon, according to family sources.
