Rider killed in car-bike collision

Nanjangud: A two-wheeler rider was killed while the pillion rider sustained serious injuries in a car and bike collision near Kalale Gate on Mysuru-Ooty Highway yesterday.

While the deceased has been identified as Mahesh (27), a resident of Gundlupet in Chamarajanagar district, the seriously injured pillion rider is 23-year-old Manju Buddhi of Geekahalli village in Nanjangud taluk.

Mahesh and Manju, who work for a microfinance company, were proceeding on the bike to Chikkaati village in Gundlupet taluk for collection. When they were passing near Kalale Gate on Mysuru-Ooty Highway, a speeding car, which came from Gundlupet side reportedly rammed into the bike resulting in both Mahesh and Manju Buddhi sustaining serious injuries. Though both were being shifted to a hospital, Mahesh is said to have breathed his last midway while Manju is being treated at the hospital.

Nanjangud Traffic Police have registered a case.
