Riders killed as bus knocks them down on Nanjangud Road

Nanjangud: Two persons were killed while another suffered serious injuries when a Kerala bus knocked them down on Nanjangud Road yesterday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Doreswamy of Kebbepura and Sachin of Kullapura, while the seriously injured is Raghu of Kallahalli, all aged between 23 and 24 years and employees of a juice manufacturing unit in Tandya Industrial Area.

Doreswamy, Sachin and Raghu, after completing their night shift, were on their way to Nanjangud, riding triple on the Hero Honda bike (KA-09-SR-7705) last morning. The trio were overtaking a lorry, when a Kerala registration bus (KL-15-A-1977), which came in the opposite direction rammed into the bike near Kali Hundi Gate on Nanjangud Road, resulting in the riders sustaining broken legs and other serious injuries.

They were rushed to a hospital in Mysuru, where Doreswamy and Sachin succumbed to injuries, while Raghu is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mysuru.  Nanjangud Traffic Police Inspector Lohit Kumar and staff, conducted mahazar, registered a case and have seized both the vehicles. Sources said that the Traffic Police were conducting checking at a distance from the accident spot and the riders were knocked down by the bus when they were overtaking a lorry.
