RIE hostel students take ill after dinner

Mysuru: About 22 students of ‘Ganga Hostel’ block at Regional Institute of Education (RIE) campus in Manasagangothri reportedly took ill after having dinner last night.

Over 250 students of the hostel had food at 8 pm last night and at about 8.45 pm, 22 of them complained of vomiting and nausea, following which they were taken to Kamakshi Hospital  for treatment.

While 17 of them were discharged after sometime, five students, who are being treated as inpatients, are likely to be discharged later this afternoon.

Meanwhile, hostel warden Chandrappa said that food was served last night according to the menu and the cause of some students taking ill has to be ascertained. The food samples have been sent to a laboratory for testing, he added.
