Rise of heart patients in India cause for concern: Heart Specialist

 Mysuru: The growing number of heart patients and rise in people with diabetes is a serious cause for concern, said Dr. K.S. Sadananda, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Mysuru.

He was speaking after inaugurating a week-long free heart check-up camp organised by Suyog Hospital at its premises in Kuvempunagar here on Sunday  last and said that not only people living in cities but even doctors are prone to heart problems these days and hence they must be very careful.

Everyone should take care of their health and not while away their time in unnecessary activities. By changing one’s life style, controlling diet and getting heart check up frequently could possibly prevent heart diseases, he said and added that Suyog Hospital had all facilities and people should make use of this free check-up camp.

Suyog Hospital Chairman Dr. S.P. Yoganna said that the heart check-up camp which began from Nov.11 will go on till Nov.17. There are many heart specialists working in the hospital, where ECG, Echo and blood test will be done freely.

The specialists will talk about the nature of heart problems, life style that needs to be adopted and advice people on how to combat such diseases. If angiogram or angioplasty is required then the patients will be treated at the Government hospital rates. If people do not have money they will not be sent back. 10 per cent discount will be given to those suffering from diabetes and related ailments, said Dr. Yoganna.
