Rise in viral fever cases

July 5, 2017

Mysuru: In the context of an increase in number of viral fever cases in city, K.R. Constituency BJP activists, led by former Minister S.A. Ramdas, launched a fogging campaign. Spraying a bio-larvicide in areas around Vivekananda Circle here yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramdas said that the bio-larvicide was developed and tested by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). He pointed out that mosquito menace had worsened in the last three months tarnishing the clean city image. He expressed apprehension that authorities were not revealing the true position regarding confirmed cases of dengue. He alleged that the District Administration and State Government were ineffective in combating the spread of viral fever. He added that MCC had collected Rs.16.28 crore from public as health cess along with cleanliness tax from vacant site owners but the city continued to remain dirty making it prone for epidemics.

Continuing, Ramdas said that Health Minister Ramesh Kumar himself has disclosed that Mysuru stood in second position after Delhi in number of dengue cases which was an alarming situation. He warned to move the Court against the Government and District Administration for failure to arrest the spread of  viral diseases.

He further said, a five-member team has been formed to spray bio-larvicide in the areas with mosquito menace and public may contact the team over Ph: 0821-2484477 or 2485555.

Corporators Seema Prasad, Jagadish and others were present during the campaign.
