Mysore/Mysuru: The proposal to construct four Road Under Bridges (RUB) along the 41.5 kilometre Outer Ring Road that has been declared as National Highway-275 K have reached the final stages.
Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha met Ravishankar, Additional Director General (ADG Road Development), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways at Transport Bhavan, New Delhi requesting him to accord immediate approval for the crucial project.
Pratap Simha told the officer that the RUBs have to be constructed along the 41.5 kilometre Outer Ring Road and a proposal has been sent to the NHAI for approval and the total estimated cost of the RUBs is Rs. 70.58 crore.
The Road Under Bridges have been proposed to be constructed at 5.460 km of NH 275K (Outer Ring Road) with an estimated cost of Rs. 26.98 crore, at 7.060 km with an estimated cost of Rs. 8.90 crore, at 7.860 km with an estimated cost of Rs. 24.92 crore and at 28.585 km of the Outer Ring Road with an estimated cost of Rs. 9.78 crore.
The MP told the officer that initially the road was developed and constructed by Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) in a phased manner and later on it was handed over to NHAI. During construction, MUDA was unable to extend existing RUBs in line with the main carriageway and service roads.
“During my inspection on 10.10.2020, I had instructed the officials to take up the RUBs widening work by box pushing method. In this connection, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been already prepared by RITES on a consultancy basis,” the MP noted.
The DPR has already been approved by competent authority and the same has been collected and submitted for approval. “It is critical to construct RUBs for smooth movement of traffic,” Pratap Simha told the officer.
